International is a worldwide organization
of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of
women

Founded in 1919 Zonta International proudly celebrated its 80th birthday on
November 11, 1999. The members of this inspired worldwide organization have proven over
the years that working together, across political and social boundaries, we can make a
difference.

Zonta International, through
its Foundation, supports international service projects and educational fellowships to
improve the quality of life for women. The Foundation is supported through voluntary
contributions by Zontians, Zonta clubs and friends of the Foundation. Following are some
of the programs funded by the Foundation.
The Zonta International Strategies to Eradicate
Violence Against Women and Children (ZISVAW) focuses on prevention,
awareness, education and the development of innovative approaches to eliminate abuse
against women and children.
Zonta International Service Projects
address special needs . . . such as supporting UNIFEM in a cooperative training project in
Central America to reach 275,000 women and a partnership with UNICEF in South Africa to
improve girls' education.
The Young Women in Public Affairs Award
honors young women who demonstrate a commitment to leadership in public policy, government
and volunteer organizations. Awards are given locally and internationally.
The Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship
Awards support outstanding women pursuing graduate degrees in
aerospace-related sciences and engineering. Since the program's inception in 1938 as a
memorial to Zontian Amelia Earhart, Zonta has invested more than US $4.4 million in 877
fellowships to women from 52 countries.
